South Korean kids navigate rocky road to K-pop stardom

Becoming a K-pop star is now South Korea's most popular career choice among pre-teens.
Hundreds of children across the country have joined bootcamps in a bid to become the next big music sensation.
But the path to fame is exhausting, with hours of dance lessons, voice training, auditions and school work.
Nine-year-old Kim Si-Yoon is just one of the girls hoping to reach stardom.
Like many others, her room is decorated with posters of K-pop bands. She says she's willing to make sacrifices
to become as famous as her idols.

SOUNDBITE: Nine-year-old Kim Si-Yoon saying
(Korean): "It's tough but this is what I'm doing for my dream so I'm trying to have fun and when I make efforts,
I can perform better.
" Despite the pressure, Kim's mother says she's determined to see her own dashed dreams of becoming a singer
fulfilled by her daughter. SOUNDBITE: Kim Si-Yoon's mother, Park Sook-Hee, saying

(Korean): "I'm very worried about her because it's a very rocky road and competition is very
intense and there are so many talented kids.
But she's trying hard and she knows that she can't help but work harder."
Although the gruelling programmes don't always lead to success, trainees who make it to the top
receive the adulation of fans and book huge stadium tours. K-pop is currently all the rage in Asia,
especially in China and Japan. Now the industry is eyeing new audiences in the West,
so the pressure is on for these young wannabe pop stars.

kpop에꿈을가진 어린아이들이 가수의꿈을 가지고 춤,음악수업에 투자를하고 있다. 근데 가수가되는길은 길고 힘들다.
9살 김시윤은 이꿈을ㅉㅈ아가는 아이한명일뿐이다. 다른애들과 다름없이 시윤이방에 들어가면 요즘유행하는 kpop
아이돌 포스터들이 깔려있다.
시윤이는 이길이 얼마나힘든지알고있다고, 모든걸 내려놓고 꿈을위해 달려가갰다고한다.

"제가 노력만하면 안되는건없자나요".
시윤이 어머니 박숙희 "가수의길이 엄청힘들다는사실을 알고있는전 시윤이가 걱정되요.
연습시간은 길고 경쟁률도 쌔고, 시윤이보다 실력이뛰어난애들이 많아요. 하지만 시윤이도 이사실을알고 노력을해요.
아무리열심히해도 아이돌의꿈을 못이루는친구들도 많아요. 하지만 정상에 오른친구들은 국민의 사랑을뜨겁게 받고있지요.
kpop은 한국뿐만 아니라. 중국, 일본, 아시아 전체에서 인기를끌고있습니다.
최근들어서는 서양인들의 관심도받기시작했습니다. kpop이 인기를끌자, 가수의 꿈을가진아이들은 점점 부담이커져가는거지요.
